Bio:

James (Jim) Patrick Caviezel was born in Mount Vernon, Washington. He landed small roles in films such as Diggstown (1992) and Wyatt Earp (1994), and his breakthrough came with “The Thin Red Line” (1998), followed by “Frequency” (2000). In 2002, Caviezel made his strong Catholic beliefs known, refusing to participate in any on-screen love scenes. He appeared in the fan-favorite “The Count of Monte Cristo” (2002), but his performance in Mel Gibson’s “Passion of the Christ” (2004) as Jesus Christ brought him international acclaim. Jim’s career continued to flourish with the lead role in the CBS crime drama “Person of Interest” (2011-2016), for which he was nominated for the People's Choice Award for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor in both 2014 and 2016. Caviezel has also narrated multiple documentaries.

Madison Takes

We included Jim Caviezel as a Madison Media Fund curator because of his association with conservative viewpoints, particularly in the context of film. His leading role in “Sound of Freedom” (2023), a film about child sex trafficking, resonated strongly with conservative audiences because of its themes of moral clarity, fighting against evil, and subject matter. Caviezel is known for his devout Catholic faith and speaks openly about his traditional beliefs and values, even when they are controversial. He has made statements that appear to support what has been deemed as the “QAnon conspiracy theory,” placing him within the sphere of conservative media. He portrayed Jesus Christ in “The Passion of the Christ” (2004) and has collaborated with producers known for creating conservative or Christian films, establishing him as an actor willing to take on roles with strong religious themes.
